Forgive Yourself

Forgive Yourself

What we often miss as we feel our resentments and grievances in life—even those that seem obvious and justified—is that the extent to which we can forgive others for their misgivings is in direct proportion to the ease with which we can forgive ourselves for our own.

When we can see, appreciate and have compassion for our own humanity, our own fallibility, our own trying to get it right and having things go awry, then we can begin to witness the same in everyone else.  Then the frustration and anger become more like annoyances as we recognize that we’re all just doing the best we know how to do at any given point on our journeys.

If you feel there are things you’ve done in your life that seem unforgivable, just know that the very conscience that has you believing this is the indication that you are indeed deserving of the forgiveness you seek.

Do you find it challenging to forgive yourself?
